Nothing elaborate, I feel like that introduces the fewest points of failure. Just like, once or twice a day you send my room grid or my augment a non-automated signal, to say 'i have not been fucked with'. And then if someone messes with your code and tells you not to tell anyone, you...don't. You just stop reporting your status. Even if they tell you to act normal, normally you respond truthfully, right?
And then if I don't get that ping for 24 hours I can enact whatever contingency plan you think would work best to identify and remove said fuckery.
Obviously if you aren't aware of the coding changes it might not work for every possible sabotage situation, but people doing mind control shit usually don't think they need to be subtle, right?
